Calgary Landfill

The site, situated approximately 20 kilometres southeast of the city centre, comprises approximately 150 acres, 102 of which are permitted to receive non-hazardous solid waste. The Calgary Landfill is one of four landfills in the area, the other three of which are government-owned sites located similar distances from the city centre.

Based on current daily disposal volumes received at the site and the geographic configuration and construction of the landfill, management estimates that the site will close in the next few years. After landfill operations are complete, the area will be landscaped and incorporated in the City of Calgary's park system.

To date, BFI Canada's Calgary landfill has received a clean record from the regulators regarding all material requirements of its permit and any material environmental regulatory requirements.
